In keeping with the fun and frolics of the upper classes at that time, the lead cast were all expected to dance, and we don’t mean throwing some shapes on a dance floor Saturday night stylee. We’re talking ball gowns and waltzes and major concentration. Keira found it ‘really, really, really difficult. Matthew actually did find it really easy, it was really depressing. I’m usually quite quick at picking things like that up but actually I found it impossible and he’d just do it in about five seconds.’
Lizzie, Cecilia, Anna.
It´s been fascinating to watch Keira grow as I´ve grown, we´ve kind of grown together. She was eighteen when we made “Pride and prejudice” so she was pretty much a kid. And then we made “Atonement”, she was twenty one or two and now, as she matures, she´s become this incredibly strong woman and utterly fearless as well. Those were the qualities I really wanted to bring to the screen in “Anna Karenina”.
(Joe Wright, Director)
“Matthew´s great. I love him. We’ve gotten along so well during Pride & Prejudice. Our actual relationship for some reason we see each other and just laugh the whole time. We were always partnered up, and we would piss ourselves laughing. And we thought that should be a part of their relationship in the movie as well. It is in the book. They find each other funny. She finds his exploits funny. It’s a nice part of her character in there because it gets so dark so quickly.”
(Keira Knightley)

Keira, how was it being reunited with Matthew Macfadyen again but this time playing brother and sister?
Keira Knightley: We just giggled, really, didn’t we?
Matthew Macfadyen: Uncontrollably, yes.
Keira Knightley: I think it was because we were trying to learn to dance and initially it was just us together. And we just found it absolutely hysterical so we brought that into our brotherly and sisterly relationship.
“I like the idea of a company atmosphere and I like working with the same actors and crew members, more so with crew. I wouldn´t had necessarily to cast Matthew to play Oblonsky had he not played Darcy. I knew that there was another side of Matthew that I’d really like to engage with and so it seemed (Anna Karenina) like a perfect opportunity for that.”
(Joe Wright, Director)
Matthew´s faces…
“I love working with Jacqueline Durran. She is the costume designer who also designed that green dress in “Atonement” and all the costumes as well for “Pride and prejudice”, that I did. She is one of my favorite costumes designer definitely, but just creative people. I think the reason is that there´s always a really specific reason for each costume and they really tell the story.”
(Keira Knightley)
“Amazing, amazing ! Keira and I were really tickled by working together again and playing such totally different parts from Darcy and Lizzie so it´s great, it was lovely.”
(Matthew Macfadyen)
“As for what draws me to working with Keira so much, maybe it’s because we understand each other very well, or perhaps it’s because we’re both dyslexic.”
(Joe Wright, Director)

Keira and Matthew back to the dance floor?
Apparently those two people in the middle are Keira and Matthew filming Joe Wright´s new film, Anna Karenina.

OMG, I had no idea, Matthew´s been in San Sebastian, Spain (my country), presenting “The Three Musketeers”.
And he confirmed he will be shooting Anna Karenina this month joining Joe Wright and Keira Knightley. So I guess this is how he will look like in the film playing Oblonsky. The wonder team is back !
Q.: Finally, Some new project we want to talk?
Matthew: I have planned film adaptation of Anna Karenina.
Q.: Curious, another literary classic …
Matthew: Yes, I know.(Laughs) I’ll start shooting in a week directed by Joe Wright.
